On June 23rd, SIBC hosted over 60 people, members and guests, at our first Dock Party on the beautiful new docks in the Landings Harbor Marina. It was a perfect evening on the waterfront with incredible blue skies and a 15 knot breeze.
SIBC provided fruit, cheese and snacks and members brought their favorite hot weather beverages. As usual, several members opened their boats for tours: It’s Time, 30′ power boat (Capt George LaPenta), Dark Side, 30’ power boat (Capt Lee Carrol) and Masterpeace, 39′ sail boat (Capt Jake Master).
Dock parties are a favorite venue for SIBC and alternate between Landings Harbor Marina and Delegal Creek Marina. Last month the club traveled for the day to Daufuskie Island – this time with members opening their boats to transport other members. Next month SIBC will host the gala celebration for sailors finishing the SIBC-sponsored ocean race, The Low Country Hook Race”. This is a point to point ocean race starting outside Harbor Town, Hilton Head and finishing right outside Landings Harbor. Sailors, members and guests will gather under tents for an evening of celebration and the awarding of trophies.
By sharing resources, SIBC members enjoy all manner of waterfront activities including sailing and power boating, kayaks, fishing and beach parties. Skidaway Island Boat Club is an inclusive community group whose members actively enjoy living in a beautiful island community and sharing in waterfront activities.
